COMBINATION :
STRUCTURAL / PIPE WELDING SPECIALIST
This 30 week program is
recommended for the student interested in developing the skills required
for employment as a transmission pipe welder, process pipe welder or for
employment in the construction, maintenance and repair welding
industries.
Successful completion of this program gives you the necessary welding
skills required for employment as a combination welder. A diploma is
awarded upon graduation. Included in the tuition for this program, the
student will receive:
• The necessary personal welding equipment for this program
• A student membership in the American Welding Society
• All materials and consumables required
• An OSHA safety course
• Job placement assistance
Prerequisites
The student should be sufficiently mature and have a high school diploma
or equivalent. The student must be in good physical condition, have
manual dexterity, good eyesight, and good eye-hand coordination. There
is some homework required with this program.
Program Objective
To develop entry level skills needed to obtain employment as a
combination welder, (pipe fitter, or structural welder).

The student will receive training and be tested in the following subject
areas:
101 - Oxyfuel Cutting, Plasma Arc Cutting, and Safety.
102 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding
104 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding Adv. II
105 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding Pipe-Uphill
201 - Gas Metal Arc Welding
204 - Flux Cored Arc Welding
301 - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
303 - Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Pipe
401 - Pipe Fitting
402 - Welding Symbols
403 - Blueprint Reading

Information
Testing
Upon successful completion of this program, the student will have passed
at least two written tests, will have passed visual inspection in the
2G, 5G, 6G positions and guided bend tests in the 5G and 6G positions.
